Abalone and RV Park Camping, Fort Bragg California

Borg likes these diving conditions, Aug 26, 2012. |
These abalone are each over 8.5 inches... but only 1 is over 5 pounds. |
(o: No Fog Today :o) |
The Big Red Abalone, are a good reason to camp or RV in Fort Bragg California. Hidden Pines Campground diver Mike, aka "Fort Bragg Borg"... is having much fun with other divers this year, as they are swimming wherever they please. Today offered warm weather, flat seas, clear skies, and high visibility. Big Red Abalone provided the reward for a very pleasant afternoon dive. Abalone dinner at Hidden Pines Campground after the dive was fantastic. The big dipper is now shining brightly, as I post the blog and photos for your pleasure. The abalone photos also show some reasons why Fort Bragg Borg insists upon weighing abalone. Three abalone each 8.5 to 8.75 inches, had weight that varied from 3.39 pounds to 5.20 pounds. Five to six pound Big Red Abalone are a great catch, with six to seven pound Big Red Abalone often found too, when diving in Fort Bragg, California.

August 15 2012 - The Kang Hyon Abalone Camp and was held at, "Hidden Pines Campground" in Fort Bragg California. These divers from L.A. travel north for the Big Red Abalone in Fort Bragg California. The Big Red Abalone are the largest species in the world. Do they taste good? In a word, "yes". But hold your breath... no tanks allowed when diving for, "The Big Red Abalone". This abalone weighed 4.92 pounds.

Hidden Pines Campground, Fort Bragg California, August 2012
August 2012, Fort Bragg California, Camping and RV guests at Hidden Pines Campground... photo fun.
So far in August 2012, the biggest abalone weighed at Hidden Pines Campground, was found by James Heit, who dove for this 5.19 pound abalone. The over all biggest abalone so far in 2012, at Hidden Pines Campground, found in April, weighed 6.7 pounds.
Aiysha dove in August too, she brought up this 4.44 pound Big Red. Back at camp Aiysha and James shared their abalone with other abalone and fish caught by their beloved Marine who evaded my camera, "he caught a 20 + pound wild salmon plus two Ling cod". Their camp ate well.
Spear fishing and abalone on fair seas for Reds, a Cab and Rainbows = father/son smiles. On Labor day they return for some more.
Many dogs enjoy camping.
Our flat sea spoke to me too... I enjoyed a kayak trip with Kim and then dove for this abalone.May these photos warm your heart and bring many good thoughts. (:o) Enjoy.
