2012 Spring Camping & RV - Fort Bragg California

March Rains Are Growing Spectacular Spring Flowers In Fort Bragg California

At our camps,  RV sites, or along the short walk to the beach, everything is growing fast now as each day is a bit longer and spring draws near. Late season rains are adding gusto, flowers are bursting open, many shades of green are appearing in tall grasses.

Those who come often, plan many spring and fall trips  here at the coast. If you are new at spring camping, have layered clothing, watch weather reports and surf the web before you come. The Shoreline cottages and Cast Motel and Spa are located to either side of our campground so those less enthusiastic camping friends or relatives can join you too.

Many ocean lovers are watching web cam sites to peek at the weather and view the waves before making their trip and so short notice for good weather is common.

Here we have open sites for late arrivals posted at our after hour registration station. Street lights help set up late arrival camps.  Hidden Pines Campground check out tine is noon, so you can sleep before you play.

We hope to see you here soon :o)  Take care till then.

2011 Wild Mendocino Forest Mushrooms

I enjoyed tasting my first wild mushrooms for the new 2011 - 2012 mushroom season this past weekend.. Cooking with Chanterelle mushrooms is easy as it has a pleasant flower like appearance and taste. Although this mushroom is found in most areas from June through September, the season in Mendocino County is later and linked to the fall winter rainy season. This year early October rains have already arrived,.and now we feast.  We have had many fun guests join us this year at our Hidden Pines cook outs, from many states and countries too. The wild mushrooms this fall are added to abalone, crab, steak, tuna and salmon. If you are near and wish to visit, the fall hours for business at the Hidden Pines Campground,  Highway One Market, are 10 am to 1 pm and 3pm to 7 pm - here you will enjoy discussing the local current events and the mushroom season.

Camp Fort Bragg A Good Deal

October camping in Fort Bragg means warm, clear weather with fresh salmon and tuna. Hidden Pines Campground has a great deal on a week at the beach, for your camping pleasure. RV sites are available from $125 to $160 for an entire week. That includes your water and electric! Tent sites are available from $95 to $105 for a full 7 night vacation. Hidden Pines Campground is located on the coast hwy 1/4 mile south of Fort Bragg city limits, it is less than a mile from Noyo harbor where there is fishing, or a mile from the Skunk Train ride, or 2 miles for horse back riding on the beach, and only 1/2 mile from shopping, dinner and the theater. Take a stroll through the Botanical Gardens which are located 1/2 mile south of Hidden Pines Cam[pground. Each of these activities are fun and they are a simple chore from Hidden Pines Campground. Each sunset can be viewed on a sandy beach after an EZ walk from your camp, "walk about 1/2 of a kilometer from the camp store - and you're on the beach". The camp market has the best price in town for propane only $2.89 per gallon on this date, the ice is only 20 cents per pound and coffee, tea, or sodas can be enjoyed for a buck. Watching NFL Football on Sunday in the game room, with a fun camp BBQ - playing Foosball - and shooting pool are common in the fall. Enjoy some art, buy a Georgia Pacific saw blade, for 5 bucks you take a private swim in an indoor pool and enjoy a hot shower... Camp dinners for guests are only $9 and after noon plates can be arranged for $6 and yes sportsmen can share some of their catch with the staff... who are happy to prepare it. I have recently enjoyed salmon, albacore, ling-cod, rock fish and abalone.

PS - Wood bundles are 6 bucks, so don't buy a box of wood at Safeway for $18 - LOL - The camp store is open daily 10am to 2pm and again from 4pm to 8pm for a convenient check in and check out.

For Reservations call 707-961-5451  - Have fun :)
