Spring Camping March 17 2014 Fort Bragg RV Park And Camping Report

Saint Patrick's day 2014 at Hidden Pines Campground and RV park. Today is a spring delight with beautiful green grasses and lush Redwood Forests. The high temps are near 60 with blue skies and a cool northern breeze.  The RV Park and campground are located just 100 miles north of San Francisco, at 18701 Highway 1, on the North Coast of California. Some have asked me about the recent new movie,  "A Need For Speed" with scenes filmed nearby. The race in the movie was filmed on highway 128 and highway 1 including their intersection just 15 miles south from this RV Park. Yes, it is as beautiful of a drive as is seen in the movie. Whale watching is best done from shore today as the Pacific ocean is not pacific. After writing this blog report I am making and flying a new seagull kite.  A sandy protected beach cove is just a 1/4 mile walk from the Hidden Pines camp store and a perfect place to fly a kite, or play with kids, or run with a four footed friend. Wild forest mushrooms, fresh walnuts, ice, firewood, and propane are good values and available at the camp store. Camping or RV sites with water, wifi, cable, electric, and holding tank disposal are available every day. From 10 am to 6 pm check in at the camp store and after 6 pm register at the RV and camping night self registration office behind the camp store. Great spring time rates too... sites are available from $25 or $30 or $35 based upon amenities, with group sites available too. Non aggressive pet breeds on a leash, boats, extra people, cargo trailers, or tow vehicles can be accommodated too... call for details. (707) 961-5451.

Fort Bragg 2014 RV Park Camping

Fort Bragg California, Hidden Pines Campground and RV Park, January 2014 Update... Enjoy Camping and the Beach - open every day. Call (707) 961-5451.

January 2014 and dry weather in Fort Bragg California are good for RV traveling and camping but also a bit hard on the wild mushrooms. RV travelers and campers have enjoyed many days with clear blue skies in December and January and warm afternoons. Clear weather also has reduced our wild forest mushrooms that are a favorite at our store so this year so we are also selling walnuts now fresh from the harvest. So what shall I do on this clear warm day in Fort Bragg?  Enjoy some of these pics I took today at 1pm... and no worry, I have plenty of outdoor chores to keep me busy.

Great rates and EZ Check In - AT THE CAMP STORE or a self registration office located behind the store. Ask about the pricing for 2 or more nights, available at the camp store or by calling (707) 961-5451.

IF YOU CHECK IN AFTER 6PM - PLEASE USE OUR NIGHT SELF REGISTRATION OFFICE AND WE WILL SEE YOU IN THE MORNING :0)

PS THE BEACH HAS AN ACCESS TRAIL LOCATED JUST 1/4 OF A MILE FROM OUR CAMP STORE.

RV Park Fort Bragg October 2013 Abalone Hunt

Beach weeks are a great value. Enjoy Fall. Beach weeks are now on sale. Take a tour, call, or visit 10 am to 6pm every day. Yes We Are Open All Year :0)

Getting Big

8.99 Pounds - winner winner chicken dinner?
October 3, 2013, the "Fort Bragg Big Red Abalone Hunt" is ending soon. Old and new friends arrive each October looking to find their last "Big Red Abalone" for a year. This year the largest abalone is 8.99 pounds, weighed at the camp market. This abalone also measured 10 inches, it was captured by Rob.  His "Big Red Abalone" may win the 2013 "Big Red Abalone Hunt", unless... someone brings in a 9 pound "Big Red" pretty soon.

Jimmy found the second heaviest abalone so far, a 9.9 inch abalone that was 10 inches counting a barnacle, but after all... a barnacle is not abalone, so this one is a 9.9 inch abalone that weighs 8.2 lbs. and is in second place.
9.9 Inches plus barnacle?

4.75 pound abalone shell

This shell weighed 4.75 lbs with no abalone in it, heaviest Red Abalone Shell weighed this year.
Compare anywhere to here, beautiful North Highway 1 around Fort Bragg, California is waiting for you to discover. Here the ocean, forest and mountains are bordered by Highway 1, Highway 101, Highway 20 and Highway 128. Each of these routes are pristine drives. Highway access on all edges of this region allow much to be visited easily.  Slow trips on twisty roads and/or hiking trails are popular excursions also. Extended visits happen often here. Camping with a Jeep, boat, Kayak, motorcycle or bike for exploring remote areas are good trips too.  Some ride a train through the redwoods or they spend a day at the botanical garden.  My point is this, there are many things other than "The Big Red Abalone", to discover here.

Getting Bigger
Each season provides a unique dimension. In spring many colorful wild flowers line the edges of amazing coastal forests. Summer grasses arrive with shades of red, yellow, and brown blending into dark green forests, or black rocky ocean cliffs near sandy beaches. In fall fair weather increases as the summer breeze and coastal fog yield to an increase of warm days with blue skies. December through February are mild and wet as winter produces wild forest mushrooms. This rainy season is lacking snow and ice as these coastal winter temperatures rarely freeze. As winter ends I like to visit rivers, streams, waterfalls, coves, beaches, ocean caves and tide pools as they explode with water and green shoots starting every March. As spring returns so do many animals and people as each season brings a new adventure.

:0) This part of the North Coast of the Pacific is amazing - I ask people who explore here, is it the most beautiful place on earth? People mostly agree that I do ask a good question and they enjoy discussing beauty they find here and comparing also to other places they've seen. :0)
